We are blushing a bit as we proudly announce that our team has been recognised as an award winner at the 2021 Asia-Pacific Stevie® Awards.

At the end of 2020, it was important that we, as a team, stopped to take a moment to look back on what we had achieved in the midst of the COVID-19 chaos. Part of this process meant we had to step outside of our own comfort zone (something we encourage our clients to do!) and apply for awards such as the Stevie’s.

It was our unique approach to human resources management and the response we had to the global pandemic, that saw us take out one gold and one silver Stevie® Award.

It’s hard not to seem boastful, but this is a big milestone for our organisation. We were one of the only HR Consultancy firms to win an award, with other HR Awards given to internal HR departments of large companies or HR technology and software companies.

Gold Stevie® Award for Innovation in Human Resources Management, Planning and Practice

Founder, Jane McConville launched FiveSeven as she wanted to move away from a dependence on traditional HR models and methods.

Our goal was to provide professionals with access to the support they needed, by helping build a depth of capability and longevity within their business, not external to it. Our aim was never to replace internal HR capability, but to instead expand it exponentially! 

This meant that rather than simply providing a solution (the outcome), we are able to work with our clients to develop problem solving competencies (how to create the outcome).

“Traditional HR models can be quite boring to implement and learn, and are simply outdated. They are necessary, however, for any business which is why we like to shake things up,” Jane said.

“This Award recognition is proof that our growth as a company has fostered a sound philosophy and vision for our clients and is dynamic in the HR industry.

Our clients are often small business wanting to play a big game, HR managers who need a 'phone a friend', and the ‘Big Guys’ looking to shake up some 'old school' thinking.

We provide the flexibility to tap in and out of support when needed. Providing access to a mentoring model that fosters internal learning rather than external dependence.

Silver Stevie® for the Most Valuable Corporate Response to COVID-19 

Like most service-based businesses, last year our team shifted to working virtually.

We wanted to ensure that we maintained our strong team culture, and retaining meaningful connections with each other, was key to that. We supported our team with care packages and ensured access to mental health support was available for people during lockdown.

“Most of our workforce are parents, so we shifted our business hours to allow our working parents the mental and physical space to support children with home learning,” Jane said.

“While this was valuable for our team, we also found it provided additional value to our clients, with expanded flexibility to seek out-of-hours support.”

We also ‘paused’ existing clients on retained contracts and provided phone/email advice at no cost on any HR or management matter.

This showed not only our team, but also our clients, that our values are not just lip-service. When push comes to shove, we are always able to live out our values.

We have grown by reputation. Our clients are our biggest advocates. 

They place their trust in us and in return we deliver on our promises. To be recognised internationally for our COVID-19 response is proof that putting our people first is at the heart of everything we do.
